If you paint from reality – whether it’s a photograph, still life, or plein air – you are familiar with the challenge of recreating a scene. What elements do you include? Which details do you leave out? What’s with that funky shadow?
As artists (yes, that’s YOU!), it’s our job to simplify things. To make sense of the world around us and convey it in a way that anyone can understand.
